Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Maybe you still have some more questions. Try reading our Frequently
Asked Questions page for answers.
Q: What if I register after the deadline?
A: All registrations received after the deadline
will go on a waiting list for that age group or assigned to a team.
Players will be added to teams with shortages. Please register as
soon as possible!
Please Note: A late fee of $15.00 will be
charged at that time of late registrations. Please email the league
if you have additional questions.
Q: How do I know if my registration has been received?
A: If you have not received an evaluation notice
by early January (AAA and Majors) or confirmation by April 5 (Rookie,
A, AA and Pony), please call the Skokie Indians Hotline.
Q: Can I request a coach or teammate for my player?
A: At the Rookie, A and AA level, yes! Please indicate
your preference on the registration form. Last year we accommodated
more than 90% of such requests. We also try to group players by
grade schools and geography at these levels to help with carpooling.
In AAA, Major and Pony Leagues, we assign ball players to teams
based upon their skills in order to achieve competitive balance.
You may note a preference for a coach or a teammate, and we will
make every effort to accommodate the request without sacrificing
competitive balance.
Q: On which days will teams play and practice?
A: Rookie and A Leagues practice on Saturday mornings
and play on Monday evenings. AA League practices on Saturday mornings
and plays on Tuesday evenings. AAA and Major Leagues play on Saturdays
and on various Monday through Thursday evenings. Pony League plays
on any day of the week. Team coaches arrange practice times and
your team's coach will try to set practices when most convenient
for most members of the team.
Q: Can my player "play up" or "play down"
one level?
A: Please indicate any such request on the registration
form. Players may generally "play down" one level but
not "play up" except under exceptional circumstance. We
especially encourage parents of new 9-year-old players to consider
playing their children "down" one league. We will evaluate
your child's skills and assist you in making a decision.
Q: How will I learn to which team and coach my player has
been assigned?
A: Team coaches will contact their players soon
after teams are formed in mid-March for AAA and Major Leagues to
schedule introductory team meetings. Rookie, A and AA Leagues get
together in March. Pony League teams first meet in mid-April.
